Cape Flora is a distributor and exporter of South African indigenous seeds. We concentrate primarily on providing Strelitzia and Clivia seeds to the local and global markets, including bulk quantities. We also source a variety of other indigenous seeds. South Africa is one of the global hotspots for cycad diversity. Cycads, which date back 280 million years, have a trunk, leaves and cones, all of which are covered with stiff, sharp spines. Unfortunately cycad poaching and trade has led to these plants being poached and illegally traded. Various permits are needed for activities related to cycads, including buying and selling cycads or part of cycads. If you are looking for cycad seeds, we can put you in touch with a partner supplier, who can assist with your request. Clivias are herbaceous evergreen plants, with green strap-like leaves, indigenous to South Africa and Swaziland. When in flower, they are strikingly beautiful, although some collectors also value them for the shape of the leaves. Flower colours typically range from yellow through orange to red, although through selective breeding many different shades of salmon and peach have been achieved. Cape Flora can offer bulk quantities of Clivia miniata (orange and yellow varieties), as well smaller quantities of seeds from specialist breeders and collectors. South Africa’s diverse climate, geology and topography enable the support of its rich plant diversity, including a wide range of succulents. Some of these are endemic to very specific locations, such as a single farm! If you are looking for seeds for any specific succulent species, let us help you source it. Note, however, that some succulent species or varieties are CITES listed, and thus subject to regulatory restrictions.
